If you do not enjoy the first book in a series, do you still continue reading the series?
I do normally push myself through because I buy books in bulk instead of one in a series at a time. Also, I feel the need to push on and read the series because then I have a rounded opinion of the author and series as a whole. Plus, you never know, a sequel may be better than the first book. It doesn't happen often but there might be a chance that one day it could!
However, I read The Maze Runner and thought it was poop, so I still haven't tackled The Scorch Trials a year later. I definitely need a bit of motivation to read the next book in the series if the first has been rubbish. Even a buddy read of a sequel could help give me the push I need!
