Books you're thankful for
5) An Ember in the Ashes - Sabaa Tahir
I'm thankful for this book because I feel as though it's a gripping story that has a lot of diverse characters in. The main villain is a woman who is truly a bitch but incredibly crafted and merciless. On the other hand we have two main characters, a male and a female. So we hear from different gender perspectives and also social hierarchy perspectives. We need more diverse reads like this, where it is subtle and not the main storyline.
4) Harry Potter - J.K Rowling
C'mon now, how can you not be thankful for Harry Potter?! This series just shows how imagination can make the World be seen from a different perspective and to add a little MAGIC to the World.
3) Noughts & Crosses - Malorie Blackman
This is probably quite an obvious one, Malorie Blackman is a genius and this book simply opens peoples eyes. It MAKES people see from another's perspective. This book is a favourite of mine, simply for how eye-opening it is.
2) Lies like Love - Louisa Reid
The reason i'm thankful for this book is because it is like no other. It explores quite 'taboo' subjects including mental health, emotional and physical abuse and self-harming. No other book i've come across explores these intense subjects that effect a lot of people, including young adults and teens, which is this books main target audience. This book would be really helpful to anyone going through this kind of emotional journey and mental health difficulties. I am so thankful for the help it can provide.
1) The Fault in Our Stars - John Green
How could I not mention this book? THIS BOOK! What i'm thankful for about this book is that it can help people heal and view cancer in a way that is shocking and realistic. It isn't sugar-coated, it's life and its cruel but it's the best time we'll ever get. This books message is enjoy life whilst you can, live life to the fullest despite anything that holds you back.
WOO! That was this week's Top 5 Wednesday, stay tuned for next week's!
